Preview & Publish
See your form as respondents will, then make it live.
Previewing your form
Click the Preview button in the editor top bar. This opens a new tab showing exactly how respondents will see your form, including your theme colors, question layout, and input controls.
An amber banner at the top of the preview reads "Preview mode" to remind you that submissions are not recorded. You can interact with the form to test the experience, but no data is saved.
If your form has no questions yet, the preview shows a message prompting you to add some.
The edit → preview loop
A typical workflow looks like this:
- Add or edit questions in the editor.
- Click Preview (or refresh the preview tab) to see your changes.
- Repeat until you're happy with the form.
- Click Publish when it's ready.
Because autosave persists your changes continuously, the preview always reflects your latest edits.
Publishing
Click the Publish button in the editor top bar. SignalForm will:
- Generate a unique public URL based on your form title (e.g.
forms.signalform.io/customer-feedback-a1b2c3d4). - Set the form status to Published.
- Open the Share & Embed dialog so you can copy the link or embed code.
Once published, the form is live and can accept submissions at its public URL.
Form statuses
A form can be in one of three states:
- Draft — The form is not publicly accessible. This is the default status for new forms.
- Published — The form is live and accepting submissions.
- Closed — The form is no longer accepting new submissions.
Editing a published form
You can continue editing a form after publishing it. Changes are saved automatically and take effect immediately — respondents will see the latest version of the form.
Unpublishing
Click Unpublish in the editor top bar to take a published form offline. The form reverts to draft status and its public URL stops working. Existing responses are preserved.
You can republish the form at any time. The same URL will be reactivated.
Sharing
After publishing, a Share button appears in the editor top bar. Clicking it opens the Share & Embed dialog where you can:
- Copy the direct link to your form.
- Copy an embed code snippet — see Embedding Forms for details.
